When we first moved provinces, I didn’t know where to begin with my new home. I had so many ideas in my head and so many things that needed work, I was completely overwhelmed. After several offers to help with individual services, I am so grateful that someone recommended Sarah at Unshelf Design to me. She is exactly what I needed to pull things together!
Sarah was able to coordinate everything and checkmark each box on my list, from an office space that would no longer double as a toy room, to brightening up the kitchen and fireplace, and making things more functional by correcting the bathroom and mudroom layouts. Unshelf Design helped with it all, organizing the construction, painting, drywall, tiling, lighting; absolutely everything I needed. Everyone she works with was so pleasant, reliable, and good at their trade.
Sarah made what could have been a very long, stressful experience into something painless and so much fun. She took the worry out of the experience and I trusted her entirely. She thought of ideas I never knew existed, adding unique elements, and making all our bedrooms cozy and inviting. Sarah kept all of our personal styles in mind, even the kids. We bought a beautiful condo in Downtown Calgary. Next thing was how to decorate it. My husband mentioned hiring a decorator. I laughed and looked up a few. Then he told me that’s what he wanted to do. Hire an interior decorator.
So now we searched to find an interior designer. We messaged and spoke with many, but it was important to find someone who would see our vision and make it happen.
Well, we did a video call with Sarah and knew she was the one. It was instant. She wanted to know what we liked? What we loved? What our vision was and what we really wanted?
Now, working with her was great.
Being from out of town, was different to say the least. Sarah was amazing with communication and making things so easy and even during covid. Her personality is so friendly and she truly genuinely listens to your wants. I couldn’t imagine working with anyone else. We know that when we purchase our next home she will definitely be involved.
I truly cannot say how amazing it was working with her. With both my husband and I living out of province and both of us not always being in cell service, Sarah always made it work and happened with an enthusiastic attitude.

If you need someone to help with interior decorating, Sarah is your girl! She is extremely professional, timely and extremely good at what she does. She takes the time to get to know you and your personal tastes and preferences, and always ensures you are happy with the final product. What really stood out to me was how clearly passionate she is for decorating – it just like oozes out of her and her excitement and creative energy is infectious! I hired her to prepare a few mood boards as I get totally overwhelmed trying to pick stuff on my own/going on Pinterest, it was worth every penny to get this off my plate and hand it over to a professional. Her vision/mood boards have totally determined how we are doing our home renovations and how we plan to decorate afterward. I am soooo excited to incorporate everything she has created for us, I find myself just opening up my mood boards and feeling happy/excited about how it will all come together. Sarah and her chosen team and contractors were incredible every step of our project. I wanted my house to be put together in a way I didn’t know how to describe, and to be a reflection of my family and how we like to spend our time at home. Having said that, I had no real ideas.
Sarah took my vague thoughts and turned them exactly into the feeling that I wanted. Simple, warm, cozy, inviting, pet friendly, plus, modern additions suitable for a unique 2004 build. Where I imagined basic shopping at name brand stores, Sarah showed me that perfect pieces can be found anywhere, new or used, including finding better uses or spaces for things I already owned. Her creativity, ideas, broad-thinking and grasp of who my husband and I are is so impressive. Sarah also worked independently with my kids to turn their bedrooms into exactly what they dreamed of, and had them build their very own flat lays in her showroom. Her ability to read what my family wanted was perfect.
From designing a beautiful built-in hutch in a nook I had no ideas for, to creating a gorgeous and functional pantry in a small space, there are too many “wow” factors to describe. She brought our basement rec room back to life, and through simple solutions, turned our basement into a warm and inviting extension of the main floor.
Sarah was thoughtful in all that she did and included so many personal touches along the way. The people she worked with and brought into our home were equally fun, caring, and creative. I especially appreciated Sarah’s efficient business and planning skills – I was provided with a schedule and a plan, and always kept informed.
We are very happy with our home and will reach out to Sarah anytime we would like an update or a change!

She was so efficient and did not waste any time. Our house looked amazing; every room had her touch. It looked like a show home.
