I’ve always admired Kim Hayden and what she’s done with Resilient Women Magazine.

So, to say I’m honoured to be featured on the Kim Talks Resilience Podcast is an understatement!

In my chat with Kim, we talked about building businesses, burnout, design tips, and so much more.

(Seriously, you don’t want to miss this one.)

The episode is already live, but if you don’t have time to sit back and really absorb it (it’s a full 45 minutes), keep scrolling for a quick recap.

So, Who Is Sarah (& What’s Her Story)?

For those of you who only know Unshelf’s Sarah, you might think that interior decorating has been my whole life.

They say hindsight is 20/20 and so while interior design was really a big part of my life, it wasn’t my career starting out.

My background is actually in creative advertising.

(I even built a six-figure marketing agency.)

After some difficult life events (including losing my mother) and realizing that I wasn’t finding joy in what I was doing, I decided I needed to make a serious change.

“I don’t know if it’s a moment of resilience so much as a buildup of it, and using it to make the right choice.” – Sarah Kirkpatrick

Enter, Interior Decorating

The thought for Unshelf really came from figuring out how much happiness I found in creating happy spaces for myself (or as I like to call them, rooms that ‘hug’).

It got me thinking – could I help others find that same joy in their space?

“I hope other people can feel this kind of joy when they walk into their homes.” – Sarah Kirkpatrick

Turns out, I could.

And I do now. Every day.

And I love it.
